Currently, it is standard procedure in the natural gas transport industry to take compressors off line for as many days as it takes to disassemble them and visually inspect the connecting rods for stress, wear, and defects. This procedure results in millions of dollars in lost revenue and still cannot accurately predict when rods will break and cause more non-productive days while repairs are made. The Life Predictor allows users to take measurements of cylinders without disassembling the entire machine and more accurately predict the lifetime of the connecting rods, by modeling the piston and rod, and the effects of any misalignment measured. Screen 1 shows a pictorial data entry screen, which clarifies the process of entering various measurements for various locations around the cylinder. Screen 2 shows the graphical results of the analysis. |
